Biography

Erika Wastrom (b. 1984, Barnstable, MA) lives and works in Barnstable, MA. Her paintings are immediate and direct, moving nimbly between narrative and stylistic considerations that include collage-like, two dimensional portraits and still lifes. Her work is a color-saturated world of texture, pattern, figures, and inspired objects—off kilter scenes and tablescapes comprised of a rich variety of ordinary objects and heirloom quality artifacts. Wastrom received her MFA from Boston University in 2012, and recent solo exhibitions include This Must be the Place, Gaa Gallery, Wellfleet, MA and group exhibitions The Grass is Green, Gaa Gallery, Cologne Project Space, Cologne, Germany; Summertime, Gaa Gallery, Wellfleet, MA; New Talent, ArtSTRAND, Provincetown, MA; and Asterisk Projects, AAF, New York.
